6/3/08 please excuse me for the delay in this weeks update.  I have decided to remove some of my old blog entries to make way for new stuff, sorry to those of you who will miss them.  Last Saturday was another day of highs and lows, I drew mid pack and had some problems on the start of the heat race falling back from 4th to 5th place, I knew the track would soon become a one lane affair.  I was able to get around Meyer for the final transfer spot, John and Randy had the car set up awesome and I was able to run the bottom pretty good.  Brett was in the same heat as me and won it!  This put me in the 8th position for the feature,  mean while the track conditions seemed to improve and I soon discovered that with the bar combo we had in, it was going to be a long race.  I got tangled up with Curt Lund on the initial start and had to pull into the work area, after a quick once over we resumed to the rear of the 18 car field.  Caution after Caution we began to gain a little ground all the while I was trying to hang on to the car, then I hooked the infamous turn one rut and came as close as I have ever come to tipping over without actually tipping over, the car came to the pit area on the hook and our night was over, officially we were credited with 13th place.  Brett started 12th and finished 7th.  Casey and I were sporting pink nose wings to help raise money for the Pink My Ride promotion, all the drivers went into the stands during intermission and at the end of the night we were able to raise $1400 in donations!  Thanks to all who donated to pink my ride!

5/26/08 I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend I know I did!  Here is my recap, We drew a sour pill and started in the third row of a tough heat race, I think we missed the redraw.  This would put us in the 17th starting position, meanwhile Brett finished in the top four of his heat race and was able to make the redraw.  putting him in on the outside of row 2.  I was able to climb my way up to the 9th position when on lap 17 the the nights only yellow would wave.  on the restart I was a victom of cold tires and couldn't hold my line allowing 3 cars to get past me for a 12th place finish.  Brett slipped back to 6th place.  I had a ton of fun! it was nice to pass a few cars and still be able to roll her into the trailer at the end of the night.  I look forward to next week! hopefully we get a decent starting position for the heat race.

5/22/08 Ahh it felt good to run a few laps this weekend, as good as it could considering I've been battling a nasty cold! We ran a good Heat race finishing 2nd and the car worked flawlessly.  The feature was a different story however, I drew 11th and started there, on the start we almost got into trouble in turn 2 when the field got a balled up.  We started to get into a rhythm when we narrowly got collected by a flipping car in turn 3-4 which brought out the only red flag for the night.  On the resumption of the race we moved up some and got passed some as well.  It seemed nearly impossible to find any grip and after nearly getting into a car that spun out right in front of me I decided to pull the 75 car to the infield.  What can I say I felt like crap, the car wasn't getting enough traction to pass anyone so I decided it was in my best interest to pull her in. God I hate doing that!

11/5/06 All of us at Geldner Racing would like to extend our heart felt sorrow to Ronnie Smith's family.  Ronnie and Brett were dear friends though out most of their lives.  His love of sprint car racing was fueled in part by the time he spent in his early teens following our Dad as he chased the World of Outlaw's in the late 70's.  Ronnie helped me get my start by hauling me up to Brainerd to race karts in my early teens.  At times Brett and I were competitive rivals with Ronnie but after the checkers waived we were always friends.  The sport of sprint car racing lost a colorful character the day Ronnie passed, may his unique spirit not soon be forgotten.

RIP Guam
